No splitter essential. I hooked the double sided three. 5 mm cable into the mic jack in the back again of the h4n and the other finish into my Apple iphone. established it on 4 channel. Used the headphone jack on the h4n for my headphones and hooked in my mic with an xlr cable into pic 1…works great! Thanks for your assistance Dan.
